Champions League Round 2 Empty Champions League Round 2

Post by Phan Dang Duong Mon Mar 08, 2010 9:18 pm

The 1st match is Arsenal vs Porto.

I think Arsenal have some advantages. They play at Emirates, have one away goal. If it hadn't been for Fabianski the clown, they would have won at Dragao. However, they have lost Ramsey and maybe Fabregas, which will be a problem for Wenger. Walcott being back is not enough for the midfield.

Porto doesn't have any big loss, but being visitors at Emirates is never easy. Their striker, Hulk, was a disappointment at Dragao so Falcao, the scorer of the second goal is their greatest hope.

Nevertheless, if no surprise, Arsenal will win by two goals and qualify for the Quarterfinals.

Hey can you believe Bentdner's luck? Champions League Round 2 484738 He missed about 10 chances in the game with Burnley. Those are good ones.
Anyway, should he not come in, Eduardo may take the stage.
And Farbegas can be replaced by Abou Diaby. Is Alex Song back yet?

Wenger said he would place Fabregas in the starting lineup despite his injury, which might result in him resting a few more matches.
Bayern vs Fio isn't quite interesting so I will just predict the score: 1-1. Fio will score first by Gilardino. Bayern will score a late equaliser by a substitute guy or a defender.

Tomorrow will be MU vs Milan preview, I hope so

Kay kay kay.

Manchester United vs AC Milan:

Obviously MU have more chance of winning. They have all the advantages needed: Playing at Old Trafford, Rio-Vidic unite, Rooney is back. The only thing to worry about is the DR position, where Ronaldinho play in AC squad. Wes Brown has just been injured for 6 weeks after the game with Wolves. The two others, Neville and Rafael, are not very trustful. O'shea is back but after a few months resting, Sir Alex wouldn't dare place him in the starting line-up. Also, Carrick is banned but this is not a big problem. MU can play 4-4-2 with Berbatov and Rooney on top. They are hosts, they don't have to play 4-5-1 like at San Siro.

AC Milan, in contrast, have some problems but they keep on boasting about their chance of qualifying, especially Leonardo. Pato has just recovered from injury so he may not be fully fit, but Leonardo kept saying he will be in the first team. They will lose if Pato is in, I think so. Beckham is the most wanted player in AC team but I think he won't be in the first XI. The three midfielders will be Gattuso, Pirlo and Ambrosini, all are defensive midfielders. If a miracle happens, AC will have 50% of going to the next round.

Prediction: 1-1.

Real Madrid vs Olimpique Lyonnais:

This is really difficult to predict. It all depends on the two coaches, Puel and Pellegrini.
Real won't have Alonso and Marcelo due to ban. However, Guti's recovered and van der Vaart played well last match against Sevilla. Guti' form has been nothing short of magical. His return will help the trio Kaka-Higuain-Ronaldo feel safe to attack without having to think of the defence.

If Lyon keeps the same style as the first leg at Gerland, it will be a hard job for Real. We all remember how Cris marked Ronaldo, which made CR9 have very few chance to shoot. They can also play Pressing, like Robert Pires' instructions. It will limit Real's players' space to co-operate. With the excellence of Hugo Lloris, Lyon will have more chance of qualifying.

Prediction: 1-1.

Rald, please post the line-up. I'm lazy.

well it appears on the web with the Real Madrid game but not for AC
Oh and as you all might know it was a crushing victory for the Red Devils. 2 from Rooney, one from Park and the other from Fletcher. 4-0 for Manchester United and they qualified. Sorry Mr Mosquito
And disappointing Real Madrid just fall at the quater finals AGAIN when they're held to a 1-1 draw with Lyonnais at Bernabeu. I really feel discouraged, to tell the truth.
Teams qualified for the next round ( up until March 11 )
Manchester United ( England )
Arsenal ( England )
Olympique Lyonnais ( France )
Bayern Munich ( Germany )

The players just cant stick together. I saw that match in the last minutes. The players just can not get in touch with each other, they play separatley by the tough defense of Lyonnais.
Oh and about Milan that was one very bad performance. You can see Hunterlaar and Pato lost in United's defense and Wayne Rooney is just brilliant. At the second goal Milan totally crashed and easily got beaten up

Rald, Pato didn't play last night. It was Borriello. After the second goal, all Milan players seemed to give up. Beckham was the best player on their side. He had a beautiful volley, too bad it was blocked by van der Sar. Inzaghi only played for 20 minutes but he made 3 offsides, while both teams only had 1 (Berbatov).

About Real, I knew they couldn't win after the first leg match. Lyon are their most dangerous opponent. Lyon have never lost at Bernanbeu and the tradition continues.

I want MU to meet the winner of Bordeaux-Olympiakos or Sevilla-CSKA.

Pjanic's goal is awesome too. But I don't know how Lisandro could miss such a chance. Btw, I could only watch MU-Milan last night. Real-Lyon wasn't on (I wonder why) so sometimes I had to watch Burnley-Stoke or The Suite Life Of Zack & Cody.
